Day Fifty-four:

This morning I spent documenting a few hours in the life of a preschool.

It was great to get back behind the camera for an extended project — today at a lovely preschool in San Juan Capistrano.

I’ll be doing their spring portraits in April and the sessions will be very natural and spontaneous all on location at the school.  My kind of sessions.

While there is often beauty in the posed portrait, I really love to find the portrait that is in the midst of moments.  As is this one.

The school has a special celebration for a student on their birthday.  It’s the first time I’ve seen the ritual and it was very cool.  The final part of the ceremony is for the student to create a crown to wear during the day.

It was a terrific morning at a terrific place and I look forward to going back next month!
